Your right java doesn't need much hardware support, but for it to run you need the symbian OS to be installed on your phone, that needs a lot of free space and work of

which they wouldn't bother buying the licen of symbian ... etc

The feature that I REALLY want, on my T68, is to be able to put street addresses on my phone book.

I dont believe SE will offer such an upgrade as they have now completed as promised the final speck for the T68! They may alter ringones and message alert and games, perhaps, but not for a while. I wouldnt put my money on any upgrades with more features or alterations. Perhaps a more stable and faster sofware upgrade is awaiting us?

Mobile java relies on a certain level of hardware that the t68 does not have. Therefore it is hardware specific. My early wince device will not run java as it not specified to do. And as to earlier posts java has little to do with symbian. You do not have to have this to run java.

dont mean to pick a fight, or to single you out.. but some people just dont know what they have. In your hand you have a perfect ericsson T68. Wonderful colour screen, great software. Maybe not perfect, but still great.
You have one of the most feature packed phones ever created. Yet you complain. It still isnt good enough. It needs more.
now heres my proposal. You put your T68 down. Borrow a old nokia of your mate. Keep it for a week.
You'll probably survive. You can go without your colour screen, and your MMS.
now think about what will happen to you if you have to keep that nokia for longer than a week. You have to keep it two weeks. A month. 2 months. See how you survive then. you'll probably crack. Too much nokia getting into your brain. Making you common.
Its not right being forced to use nokia... you'll want your ericsson back. But when you get it back.. you still complain, It has to be better, faster, stronger. Well i got news it cant.
Your phone is perfect, and you should appreciate it the way it is.
(or if your not happy give it to me

)

guys you cant compare things from the other. you u want to have a PERFECT phone then why wait for a couple of months or years and see what is ericsson or nokia is going to release. after that for sure you will complain for another thing that is missing according to ur demands or specs that u like in a phone. just leave it the way it is. do you think you can buy a SUPER phone for 300bucks, ofcourse not? or maybe if you have lots of bucks then why not pay ericsson or nokia to create a superphone for you?

I hate to say it, but the T68i is not perfect. It is a wonderful piece of kit, the GPRS, Bluetooth and IRda implementations are very good, but I feel that its weakest points are the basics: talking and texting.
It is irritating to have to wade through menus to call a number or send a text. Fact. Knock Nokia as you may (and I personally have no strong feelings either way about any manufacturer), but their phones deliver the basics with aplomb.
Don't get me wrong - I love my T68 and can't stop playing with it. But I guess this is the one thing that should have been top of my wishlist - sort out the menu system. It is clanky and unweildy and not suited to a phone as classy as the T68.
As for the Java argument; well as has been said, you don't need Symbian to run it. Java is platform independent. BUT, you do need a reasonable amount of processing power, and the more I think about it the more I can't see the T68 delivering. The screen refreshes and delays on input make me wonder about the clock speed of whatever lies at the heart of the beast.
More importantly, as has been raised, there is unlikely to be another upgrade. I still find it hard to believe that the T68i upgrade came through and for free - we can slam SE all we like, but they've essentially given us all a new phone for nowt, and at expense and hassle to themselves. What are the chances of doing that twice? Not good, methinks.
Look on the bright side, though; if like me you change your phone every year, imagine what's waiting 12 months down the line...

I wish we can delete those standard themes that come built in the phone, and that goes for the ringtones. I believe they r taking space while noone is using them. Of course the card games r a complete failure. I guess the sms ringtone has been discussed already (we want the old ericsson sound back) and I wish they'd release a T68 with a the TFT screen, yes all those options with only 256 colors is torture, and it's managable just check out the Samsungs T100!!!!!!
