For those wanting to use FMA, my recommendation would be to:
1. Download the latest version from
http://fma.sourceforge.net/
2. Download and Install latest Widcomm drivers (1.4.3.4). They can be downloaded from IBM, MSI and a number of other companies. They are device specific, however, so you will need to patch them if you are not using the drivers for your specific bluetooth dongle. See
http://www.jonsguides.com/bluetooth/ for more information.
2b. If you are using Windows XP SP2, follow the instructions I gave in the following thread to get the Widcomm drivers working. Don't use the native WXP SP2 drivers as they are rather limited:
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=67374#post886429
3. Ensure you create a Shortcut to one of your phone's Serial Ports. Right click on the shortcut and do a manual connect. You should be told what virtual COM port your phone has been assigned to.
4. In Tools / Options in FMA, on the General tab ensure Serial Port is selected and the Port matches the virtual COM port attached to your phone.
5. Go to the Appearance tab and change the Compose Message Transparancy windows to the value 255.
6. Hit connect. You should now be ready to go.
Hope this helps!

Hiya,
i am using FMA with
1. K700i
1. a Belkin F8T001 usb dongle
2. WinXP
with no problems whatsoever.
note: i did try to use the SE software out of curiousity, however, it made my machine hang. all the SW that SE give you with thier phones has been crap in my opinion. Thank the Gods of Tech for FMA! SE should kidnapp him and enslave him to make all thier SW. [sorry but it would be better for the world]

I've used the latest version of FMA to get some vids/music onto my k700i, but the next time i started FMA up, it came up with an error. I tried uninstalling, then reinstalling. No effect. Any suggestions??

in what way is the native sp2 bluetooth limited? i found it to be a lot more reliable than the crappy drivers i got with my blue monkey dongle.

I've tried fma with my k700i (R2A and R2L) over bluetooth and after some problems connecting got it to work. It seems to be working fine though some features seems to be unavailable. I haven't used fma extensively so unfortunatly I can't get in to details on what is working and what is not.
