It all comes down to where u live and the organisation in ur country.for example, here we do have dealers but not an official SE HQ.For this reason,i dont expect2much from them and u have2pay for upgrades.I still have R1L0013 and works gr8! This message was posted from a T610

i guess not all of us have bad experiences with or with firmware. I know my phone still runs the original software after 9 months

And if you don't experience any problems... you're not vey likely to encounter the customer services

But you know what they say: a dissatisfied customer is likely to tell his story to ten people and a satisfied person to one. that's about the ratio apparently........ so you're a lot more likely to hear people complain than people who are happy.

You do not have to pay for firmware upgrades as long as you can provide proof of purchase confirming your phone is within warranty (1yr in the UK). You can either use a local SE approved service centre or use their postal service (takes 10days normally), which will go to Hays.

.......Just had the mother of all arguments with Sony regarding Firmware updates......grrr. Won a sim free K700i (lucky me) .......

How the heck did you manage that? I've been trying to persude them to let me have a non-orange K700i for ages. They won't budge, even when I asked for my PAC number. They said the CAN'T do that, they don't have unmodified phones.

I won a sim free phone. These come in proper Sony Ericsson boxes, without sim cards or any operator modifying. If you bought a handset full price from a company like expansys.co.uk without an operator contract, this would be the same.

Sony will not give you any unlocking codes for operator locked handsets. If you need the onlock code you will need to contact your operator and ask them for the code. They will probably charge you £30-£40 for this. Alternatively you can take it to one of these dodgy mobile phone places to get it unlocked. Only problem is that they have not worked out how to unlock the K700i as yet so you will have to wait on this.

It isn't the battery dude, it is the f/w, with R2L, it fixes the, 'battery meter bug' so the battery is great, it is just R2A/E.

Charlie.

I am not using the battery indicator to figure out that battery life is extremely low on the most power saving options possible. It's the actually (hard) battery that sucks.

I must be very unluky I bought a sim free unlocked SE K700i on-line and stuck a voda sim in it. I checked my f/w and it must be the original generic code being RA041 and I am charging my battery every day and it's starting to really **** me off and I am beginning to regret paying £200+ for it brand new I live in a small town called Colwyn Bay in N.Wales UK and we have a carefone warehouse near me would they update the firmware for me? I am also confused as there seem to be 2 new firmwares out being R2L001 and R2V001 so what is the difference? I have already read the enhancements with R2L001 so whats the score with the R2V001? Does it incorporate the fixes in R2L001 and offer more functions or is it just a bug fix??

Would some kind member please send me an e-mail to stealthman@freeuk.com with the 2 firmwares and explain what the difference is? I can flash the mobile myself or get someone else to do it for me.

Many Thanks

Shane
