It doesn't matter what the size of the vid is, it will always stretch until the height or width fills the screen.
What you have to make sure you have correct is the aspect, it must be 16/9 to get it to fill the screen. And also, make sure you crop the clip to ensure there is no black edges.
Recommend using Virtual Dub, use the null transform filter to crop all the unwanted edges off and get a rough widescreen size. Then use the resize to ensure an accurate widescreen aspect. Select 3ivx for the video compression.
After that, save it as an avi and run it through an MP4 converter to get the filesize etc down for your phone.
(This was intended for mp4 encoding, as SM coverter sorts it anyway)
