If your mobile is under warranty don't flash it by yourself. Its a good idea to upgrade the firmware but if it is a new P900 you should take it back for a replacement.
The best action is to run a "recovery" update, and then do an update.

it happened to me.
i charged my phone and BLAM !!!
it exploded. only joking
no, it happened to me, i left a couple of days and was going to take it into the carphone warehouse, so i charged it fully and .....
it exploded again! only joking
it worked! and now it's sitting in front of me flashing annoyingly.

DIV is terrible for p-series and cannot flash them, even if it could you shouldn't try. but with it you can unlock them and change their IMEI's.
