I have the exact same problem. I got my K700 on Vodafone contract. I rang up the nearest carphone warehouse and they said that the neartest one they could do it in store was Newcastle but thats miles away from me. So after many unsuccessful attempts to ring Vodafone I poped down to the nearest shop. And they didnt have a clue what I was talking about and they said that I would have to get in touch with SonyEricsson, I e mailed them twice and I have still got no helpful replys ( They told me where the nearest service center was but thats miles away). I e mailed vodafone 3 times and I got one reply saying they could not help me because of the Data Protection Act. So I dont know what to do. I was thinking of posting it away but I dont know how to go about it. Do I just put my phone in the post with a note in saying "Upgrade the Firmware". I was looking into the dock idea but I dont know when the online upgrade is going to be back online or if it is for how long :-S. I dont know where to buy the docks from and how much they are. I'm stuck as to what I should do. What do you all suggest. Thanks in advance.

It's not possible to upgrade your firmware if you got a branded version at least not to my knowledge.
EDIT: Hmm i was wrong, it is possible, but only if your provider has given a firmware update to the SESP's.

@ celtic mad. I have used the carphone warehouse in belfast many times over the years for firmware updates. They will only charge you 30 quid if the phone is out of its 12month warranty. Its free otherwise. Also, if you are travelling distance to it, all before hand to make sure the engineer is working that day or you will have to leave it overnight. I have wasted 15quid on the train journey several times, i am starting to remember to call ahead now.

having read threads i figured that my SE k700i
with firmaware R2A041 is old and i need to upgrade to R2L001 (aspecialy because of anoying contact disapearing from phonebook). The thing is that it is O2 branded and SE authorized repair service said they cant upgrade because of that (there is no O2 network where i live). Is it safe to upgrade to O2 branded with firmware R2A041 to R2L001?
Other thing is what prgCXC125959_EU_6_C mean, can that be of any help answering the question above?

I managed to upgrade my O2 K700 with a little help from my brothers' unbranded phone, see:
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=69566
As for the number you posted, mine went from
prgCXC 125959_EU_6_C with R2A041 to
prgCXC 125821_EU_1_C with R2L001.
I have no idea what these relate to, but the change after the upgrade is obvious.
Cheers,
Col.
