I think if they build it in on a plane it's not plane security that is at risk here. However panicking passengers may be a problem of course

if we all find it awful to have the crowd around us using their phones... who are the people using their phones and annoying others for useless convo's on trains and such?
Not me! I try to respect other people. I switch off my phone in the cinema and restaurants etc.
I also find in noisy places mobile users assume because they can't hear the other person very well, the other person can't hear them and they shout. Grrr!
*SOME* mobile users are inconsiderate.

this is no good...imagine when everyone is sleeping in the plane....some body phone rings (Normally Chinese from China like to have their ringtone put to the max)...this is a true spolier to the last place with no ringtone on earth.
Don't think I am racist...I am chinese too but those from China make us all shameful.
Anyway china chinese here? hit me....I don't mind and don't care.....I just can't stand travelling in a plane with this group of lousy traveller any more!!!
I really hope Airbus will not put this as a standard features as it bring no help....every passenge seat already have a pay phone.
I know exactly what you mean.. I'm chinese, and man, they love to shout into their phones!!!

I mean, if you're on a emergency situation you need passengers to pay atention to crew members, and if you keep talking on your phone during the safety demostration or during the emergency you won't be able to follow crew instructions and exit the plane safely. It's been demostrated that cellphones do not interfere with comunication or navigation systems on a 99%, but there's still a 1% and that represents a safety risk.

GPRS? no need....Boeing and Airbus will soon offering Wifi in their plane. Why do you need GPRS? get a PDA or Centrino to get the full surfing experience in plane ... ok
mean while I remember one BBC news report saying the signal transmitted in the plane will be weaker than the signal between the plane and the air traffic control on the ground.
So the phone signal cannot interfere. Didn't really know what this mean but they have ensure it won't interfere. Come on....we are talking AIRBUS...The company who is the first to bring in Fly by Wire and A380.
Anyway I just hope no air line will install those equipment....or maybe they can built a special room just like the wash room....then you can see people start que up for phone call beside going for a dump hahaha
