But after forking out £500 for the phone can anyone afford an MSDuo is a better one?

Are you talking about recording video og just playback of video encoded on computer ?
Recording video is the same on S700 and K700 - and so is playback.
Playback of properly encoded mp4/3gp video is brilliant (for a mobile phone) on both K700 and S700. If it isnt, its not been encoded properly.

It does seem strange that SE should leave out such an obvious feature such as full screen video support, but hopefully they will realise their mistake and implement it.

the P800 didn't have full screen video when it first came out and they implemented that in a later firmware update.
perhaps they will do it in future to be seen to be giving the people what they want!
