huh, why dont they have an international number?
I thought 112 was an international number and i think 08 might also be one.

112 is the international GSM emergency number.
Landline calls and CDMA networks have diff #'s (i think), depends upon country.

It's changed as 999 is no longer an emergency number, not even here in the UK. 112 works all over Europe, on land-line and mobile. The UK Government hasn't quite got sound to telling anyone that 999 is being phased out. 112 is already fully operational (and has been for years).

112 was accepted as THE standard emergency number on GSM. It should work on all GSM networks.
