Think of it like this:
Because a lot of people are willing to spend the high amount of money for any phone that just came out, prices will drop later so others can buy it cheaper.

Have to agree, they say "You get what you pay for" well in this case you dont. Bought my S700 friday, think I'll be selling mine as soon as I get my P900 repaired, trying to get maximum price for it while its still high...

yes i agree with all those people who say the s700 is not worth more than around 500-550 USD's. I would definately not pay more than 550USD for it....... its a camera first and then a phone. And a camera that is not really cool if you look at it from being just a camera. i mean 1.3 is neither this way nor that way....but for people that want both things in one device i think its cool to have.
personally i think it sux but others obviously may think otherwise....

I also agree with most of you people, this phone is way to overpriced and good camera and extremely beautiful display can not make up for the price. The price will decline as soon it gets available.
I don't remember where I read that the initial price were set around 500 EUR and that is reasonable but today it's simply not worth it.
BTW. when I booked my S700 it cost only 4800 SEK incl. VAT which is 525 EUR.

Vlammetje - But you are just buying one right? Under contract or cash out?
The price of the SE K700i was a reasonable one compared with that of the SE S700 now mates . . .

S700 is definitely overpriced.
you can buy nokia 6630 for 550 euros which has got also 1,3mpix camera, symbian os, NO LIMIT on memory card (128mb limit on S700 is just pathetic), it has got 3G support, EDGE, GPRS class 10...
even nokia 9300 will cost according amazon.de 600 euros!!

The price is indeed pathetic but the phone itself is not pathetic. It has a display which makes Nokia look like they still don't know how to make a proper display and camera which makes Nokias all todays offer with 1.3MP cam look like a webcam.
Why can't you guys just see the differences in different classes?
6630 is superior in terms of functionallity but loses badly when it comes to what S700i is made for.
