Actually a virus on a phone would be possible, anything with storable memory is exposed to be infected

No way you could get it via SMS though...unless somehow your service provider was infected, and that's assuming there's some way the SMS transmission could carry a virus...very doubtful. It was probably someone you know. Keep us posted if you find out what it was!

The first mobile virus (only transmitted via Bluetooth) was announced recently. You don't have a virus - just a prank or spam.

One of my friends can't access the service menu of his T230 after reading this sms. Whenever he tries to delete the sms it won't let him do it and the phone restarts! It must be a bug in the phone sw, but this happened after the anonymous message arrived! This message was posted from a T230

Ok this is getting weird now...this happened to more than one person, right? Did it mess up everyone's phone or just this one person? If it just happened to that one guy then it could be a coincidence, but that's very strange that he can't delete that SMS. Can he delete other SMS?

Yes he can. I had always thought that viruses don't spread through text messages. But this is wierd stuff! I even called up my operator and they said there was no such sms sent by any of their subscriber nor that of any other operator. This message was posted from a T230

I would think that the closest u could get to a virus through SMS would be if ur service provider or an anon party sent new settings to ur phone over the air, which most SE phones support. This could result in weird changes to the operation of phone. This would not be a virus thou, and would be easily fixed. This message was posted from a Z600

That's just weird, I've never heard anything like that. It's definitely not a virus because it doesn't spread, but if someone did in fact alter your phone over the air that's a bit scary. @icefusion - I believe the current market prices for s700 are around $675-$750 in the US and somewhere around 350-400GBP in Europe.
