I had exactly the same problem, I first thought nightmode was activated but it was not. When taking pictures I had to be very steady with my hand otherwise the photo would appear blurry

The screen slows down (refresh rate reduces) in poor light. Take it outside and test it - should be OK.
The camera has a small aperture lens, so this effect will occur slightly before it does with a regular digital camera. Also, it will force ISO changes and slow shutter speeds a bit earlier, so a steady support will be needed, and grainy photos should be expected when dimly lit inside.

apotts, thats exactly right! I was using it in my bedroom last night.
But today it is superb! Its as if it automatically goes into night mode in poor light conditions.
