My experience:
My car as an extendale antena on the rear and once I'vre tried one of those cheap phone adapters that broadcast calls in FM radio you are supposed tune in your radio.
I never got it working, maybe because all the FM broadcasts in Lisbon are strong, or because the external antena is almost 2 meters away from the front seat.
I would love to purchase one of those, but I'm almost sure they would not work very well in y car....

I have a device called an iTrip mini (exactly same principal as the Belkin, except it only works with an ipod mini). Anyway, I've never got it to work in the car, because it's impossible to find a vacant FM frequency in London. So unless you live in the country, I think it'll be hard to get an FM transmitter working properly. Another thing to bear in mind is that unless you get a licence, it is illegal to use FM transmitters with a range above - I think 10 meters, in the UK.

I have just ordered one off ebay so thanks for the posting. I can't see me using it much with my P910 but a lot with my laptop. I have an in car PC in my own car, but not my company car or obviously hire cars. This would be ideal for watching films with decent sound whilst sitting around (I did use to use one of the casette adaptors when cars still had players) or for Sat Nav, MP3.

If people need to get a 2.5mm -> 3.5mm adaper, Maplins are suprisingly doing them for 99p in the U.K. I went to get one but they only had the mono one in stock. Stereo due in on the 24th Oct.

Folk, sorry to butt in again but I must advise you not to bother with the Maplin adapters. If they are the ones I have seen (Maplin part FA94C 2.5mm plug to 3.5mm stereo jack socket), they are bad because:

1) They stick out of your phone about an inch. An an extra inch of width makes a big difference (trust me...).

2) You will need to file down the plastic around the plug; it is too large to fit snugly into our phones because of the trim around the socket on the P9.

3) They are only stereo jacks - the P9 socket has a third channel: the microphone. Jiggling a stereo jack in the socket will keep activating your voice dialing.

You want one of these:

The neat little plug takes up next to no space (still fits into the tight neoprene case you use while listening on the treadmill). The leads are well made and give a satisfying/secure click at both ends when physically connected. Finally, the extra lead means if you pull too hard on your headphones, they just pop out of the adapter, instead of snapping off inside the P9.

Buy one here for $6 (£3.5) it's worth the extra over Maplins.

There are other posts on this subject you can search for, including this one

I paid 24.99 and it arrived today ... but you can one cheaper if you don't mind waiting for delivery from the states.
