@scotsboyuk
Well said, if it wasn’t for the patients of my grandmother having to queue up to get the weekly rations I might not be here now

The problem is this, You never started using your new sim, that's why orange think you're still using a t610, and probably why they've asked for the phones imei. You should have phoned up to activate the sim when you first got it. As for unlocking and unbranding, you shouldn't be doing that anyway, the phone is locked for a reason. The only time I would bother getting in a bother about a network is when they steal money from you or charge you for all your calls, and not use your minutes. Such as voda and O2 have both done. Voda naturally took 2 years to sort out them theiving nearly £200 from a canceled contract. And O2 charged me for all my calls and text messages and said i hadn't used any of my minutes or texts. Hmmmm

Just a little, you are in breach of contract (quoted the section of their own terms and conditions, and oh by the way this call is being recorded, and I don't want a cheque, or creditation for my next bill as I AM NOW DOWN THIS MONTH )

and i was bacs payed my amount, and they zero'd my next bill to keep me quite.

I have loads of problems with handsets, I've worked in phones shops, and the only need to complain like this is if money is involved, they just won't care otherwise. Believe me I know, i've worked for them

OK..... I am just confused. they say they gave you a SIM card that wasn't meant for you. And to rectify that, they want you to hand in the PHONE you're using, not the SIM Card.

What am I missing here?

AS for unlocking and branding.......well they may not even want the phone back when they see that.

Finally....... if there's a queue you line up. The ppl that are already in queue didn't do anything to you so why should they wait for you?

I'm sure if you want to keep both the phone and an orange subscription there is very little problem really.

Yep my theory is basically that the guy just typed the wrong code in the computer and actually upgraded someone else's account.. the sim card never worked, and yes my concern is why in earth they want to phone. Anyways I'll talk to the guy in the shop before complaining to orange. And there's money involved anyway, Spent 16 quid unlocking+unbranding the phone!

And about the queues.. yeah im not british and I've been in the UK for quite some years now.. im perfectly aware of the queueing habit of brit ppl (like if there are 4 traffic queues to get into some building all the english would queue in the same one ) im the first one to accept and adopt your customs.. what am i doing in this country if i dont accept its peculiarities! but.. having said that.. i considered it inappropriate to treat me like another customer.. i shouldnt be bothered with queues and visits to the shop, if you see what I mean. If they've done something wrong.. at least try to make it the least painful possible to the affected person!

my point is "i would be at work if you hadnt made that mistake PERIOD"

well thats all for now.

@khyros

Orange haven't taken any money off you though with regards to unbranding your K700, that was your decision.

At the risk of repeating myself I just don't agree that you should get special treatment. A queue is a queue, perhaps some of the people in the queue had also had problems with Orange that were Orange's fault. The reason that people wait so patiently in queues is that there is a commonly held belief that no one should get special treatment, people tend not to be too fond of those that think they are 'special' and should be seen before anyone else. I'm not insulting you, just pointing out a fact.

Ffs. Like i said, the new sim does not 'magically' start working, you should have phoned up to activate it, instead you kept using your old sim and so to orange you appear to be using a phone with a different imei to the one you should be. You shouldn't have unlocked the phone cos that probably just makes you look even more dodgy, and he you don't want to queue up just leave and come back when its less busy. Just because we are British, we are not necessarily right. It is the custom of other clutures to not queue - and you know what, their societies are far more efficient.

Secondly, it is typical of a British person to accept poor customer service. The poor service we receive is a product of this. We should not have to acept poor customer service, and have the right to complain (and yes that includes not-tipping) when we do not receive good service.

What countries are these that have societies far more efficient than Britain by not having the courtesy of forming an orderly queue?

@a

Take it from someone who knows - as right as you maybe (and I pass no judgment either way) - if you adopt that approach with mobile phone companies, you are only entering yourself into a whole world of pain. The whole industry suffers from a terribly sub-standard level of service, and the networks are the worst!

The fact of the matter is that, whatever stand you take on the issue, it is simply not worth the hassle, because incompetence is so deeply ingrained into these companies that it would take a revolution for this to change.

@joe

At risk of starting a World War 3, I would say Israel, ironically since it appears to be the country of origin of our thread-starter, is probably an example of a country where people are, for a number of reasons, more forthright than we Brits, and you can't argue that they get things done!
