@StarKnight

The Borland offer seemed great, but it says it compiles for Symbian 6 series only.

Anyone confirms this?

The last time i checked, Borland C++ Builder Mobile Edition only supported Series 60 phones (hence Symbian 6.1)...

Don't know about Borland Builder X, but it might be the same thing though...

from the link above:

"Developed in cooperation with industry-leading mobile device manufacturers, C++BuilderX Mobile Edition includes integrated support for market-leading mobile devices in a flexible development environment, including UIQ support, and true Rapid Application Development for Series 60 developers. "

@oak

Sorry I'm new at this stuff, but I'm interested in it!
Doesn't UIQ mean Symbian 7 ?

From the statement I quoted it seems clear to me that it supports UIQ. Hence I also believe it will works with symbian 7.

I am not completely sure about this so if someone knows something else please speak out.

Anyhow I am downloading BuilderX and UIQ Sdk 2.1 at the moment so I'll give it a try.

I have been researching a way to get into development as well lately...I'm a C# programmer and so far the only thing I've been able to find is something by a company called AppForge...the program is Crossfire 5.5 but it costs $1000

I would be very interested if anyone could guide me to any C# programming SDK's or info for the Symbian OS. Other than that, I'm working on getting CodeWarrior or Borland SDK's but I'd really rather stick with C#

@Maestro85282
It may have been out of luck, but all apps that I've seen until now that use the appforge booster are awkward and slow running.

In my humble my oppinion, if you are a experienced C# programmer, you will not have much difficulty programming in C++, and instead of creating 200 Kb applications that depend on the booster, create 50 Kb free performance-wise applications.

@oak
Keep me posted on your progress!

There's always much confusion about OS and Interface.
OS is one thing, interface is another:

- Pxxx use Symbian OS 7.0 and interface UIQ 2.0/2.1 on top of it
- Nokias use Symbian OS 6.1 and interface Series 60, or Symbian 7.0 and interface Series 80.

IMHO i think it's the other way around...
C++ is much more hardcore than C# which has much built in functions that previously needed a lot of steps in C++

@Krubach
You are right, but forgot one detail:
You are not going to program C# for Windows, you are goig to program for UIQ, so forget the wizzards, the automatic code, the resource editors to create interfaces, etc.
Unleast I'm very mistaken, in C# you will have to close mimic the things you would write in C++.
but...
I'd love to be proven wrong!!
