@coolfighter: About seris60 & its apps on Samsung & siemens smartphones, its really simple. Those 2 manufacturers licenced series60 menu/interface 4 use on their own products. Its not nokia giving up their menu;its others taking advanage of nokia's easy-2-use menu.Did I answer well dis time?

Ok... to try and explain things as well...
Symbian is the OS... Nokia uses 6.x, SE uses 7.x
Series 60 and UIQ are the shells that go on TOP of the OS
Series 60 is owned by Nokia
UIQ is owned by UIQ (which was a division of Ericsson)
SE uses UIQ 2.0 and 2.1 on it's P series phones
Nokia uses, and plans to use Series 60 across all phones.
UIQ is developing UIQ 3.0 for standard smartphones... which SE may use on it's NON hybrid phones... the interface looks pretty similar to SE's current proprietary OS so SE users won't be confused.

coolfighter is saying that he is missing the old nokia's menu & that the siemens, samsung, nokia, etc (s60 enabled) are the same inside, just the cover differs and the brand's name. And there is 7.x version for S60 phones (see 6600, 7610).

Hee hee - this is funny?
Just to confuse things, what about Series 40/80/90 etc. Are they Nokia-owned as well, or Symbian, but not tied to any manufacturer?

All Series X0 are Nokia owned.
Series 30 (old monochrome) and 40 run on Nokia's proprietary OS.
Series 60/80/90 run on Symbian OS.

Currently, Nokia uses Symbian OS v8.0 in 6630 (and v8.0a in 3230 when it comes).

Like krubach said, there is not one single nokia "menu" but 4: series30 (3310 etc), series40 (7210,6610 etc),series60 (7650,3650 Symbian smartphones), and series80 (9210i,9500 etc communicators). Each are nokia proprietory.
