But surely the quicker SE can let the public know which new handset will be coming out in the near future the less likely potential customers are or going with the handset of another brand. I would like to know as far in advance as possible.

But then again, maybe SE would not want to proclaim they have a nice all singing all dancing. handset until it has been fully User Tested otherwise it could turn into a very embarrassing uturn if all doesn't run to plan, and letting everyone know what they had planned to well in advance would be giving away there game plan. I would still like to know as soon as possible. I love drooling at the prospect of getting my paws on a new handset.

Maybe they don't want to say what phones are coming out unless they change their mind later and then people loose faith in them.

I know I was really upset when they cancelled the T36 But then thankfully a year later they re-released it as the T39. Phew

What I don't understand about SE is that how come they announce some phones and it takes forever for them to release it (like the Z500a for example) and there are other phones where they just barely announced it, and about less than a months time, it's in the general public's hands (like the V800)?

I wish that SE would have a consistent time frame on when they announce their phones, and when they release their phones.

I think SE are quite correct to hold back announcements of new products until they are ready to be released. It means that they can hopefully gain the upper hand on the competition and offer their customers a surprise now and again.

I wonder if the S700 was a test to see if potential customers reacted more positively to a product being released 6/7 months after being announced? If it was successful for them as a business (customer happiness reflected through sales?) then I can see them doing it again.

Just a thought...

I also think the element of surprise has value.

If a handset suddenly appears on the market when you least expect it then you all of a sudden have intense media interest in the product and what it can do. Shock value. I would like there to be a new handset out every month

I quite AGREE with @scotsboyuk's LAST post here. has been having some problems with their fones that are to be released, let's just take the case of the SE K700i back then, there has been some TALKS going around that the metal plate inside should have been provided with a memory card slot, also, some pre-advance (plans) of having some feature at the back of the fone near the cam (just forgot what that thing is) and WAS pulled-out of the design in the last minute (figuratively speaking here) prior to it's LAUNCHING. You see if are having some dilemmas like these - a PHOTO FINISH refinements with thier products, how will they be able to make pronouncements of their FUTURE fone releases, say, having a LEAD time of 6 months to a year !
