Yes the upgrade was supposed to be made available to all for free & not under conditions of warranty.
It was offered not as a repair under warranty but to give the extra features to people who paid for the T68 & then the T68i came out with MMS, camera compatibility etc.

There are t68m and i, different design and fw. T68m could be flashed with i fw, not the opposite. This message was posted from a T68i

i think T68m was the sonyericsson version of the ericsson T68 just with new cover.
Anyway i flashed it and now it works perfectly as a T68i
