Disassemble every thing and but it back together. If that doesnt work, then only take it to service.

it appears pressing the battery in makes the noise go away.. maybe she accidentally also pressed in the aerial cover too because i dont think the battery can have anything to do with it?

We could guess, but if pressing the bat makes the noise dissapear then it could be a static problem caused from something loose inside the phone. Disasemble the phone and re-assemble carefully, thet should work.
