I had a P800 and have upgraded to a P910i. Like @dw I found it very easy transfering all my contacts - including the pic assigned to them - by bluetooth from one to the other, just choose to send the all folder and sent it over. Same for the jotter entries, appointments and pictures I wanted.
Anything bigger than 1mg that I needed to transfer I just put the memory stick off the p800 into my P910 and copied it into the phone memory, the advantage of the large internal memory on the P910. If I wanted it could then be transfered back onto my 512mg duo pro card.
As for sms, then just copy them on to the sim card and transfer them that way. I don't know of any phone that lets you send them via bluetooth, ifrd etc.

I was able to copy my contacts fron SE Z600 to my new p910 easily, but i cant handle any of them once they are copied, I mean there is no utility that will read the contact file from the telefone and open it on the pc where i can edit any of them and resend it back, something like in the nokia pcsuite, that i find very annoying.
And I think a smartphone like this should have this feature and more,ike writting the messages on the pc, editing photos, even the file manager i had to get from the net..

@plevy
2 things - you misinterpreted what I said about it being a phone - full stop etc (or perhaps it was ambiguous). I meant that as an all-round phone, it is, IMHO of course, the best ever. I am well aware that it falls under a specific market segment and the issues attached to that fact. All I was trying to emphasise is that, for all it's faults, I don't think a superior device has thus far been made.
Also, I agree with you that we should aspire to a higher standard yada yada but you make the same point, albeit unwittingly, as threatening to take your business elsewhere is only worthwhile if the alternatives are better. It is therefore highly pertinent what other manufacturers are doing, as I fail to see what the preferable alternative to the P910i is.

@dave_uk

much of what you say in your last para I take on board. But perhaps that's why I am fuming. Because the phone is damn weak in a very important area and there is little in the way of an alternative device - which p*sses me off as it smacks of complacency on the part of SE.
But I may well go for the latest Nokia Communicator or an XDA. The only problem I have with them is the bulk.
@everyone else.
Beaming your contacts isn't that great for, correct me if I am wrong, if you have say 300 contacts - as I do - and they have all been put in different categories beaming is a waste of damn time. You now have to go through each and every one of your Contacts and assign them to the appropriate category - after first creating the necessary folders again!!
That's crap. It's a business device. Such time consuming nonsense shouldn't take place.
As for beaming your Jotter Notes. Well again, if my memory serves me right, you have to faff around going through each Jotter Note and choosing the option to Beam.
There should, no there MUST, be a way to transfer these things and for them to fall in place in your new device. None of this going into the Beamed folder nonsense, then clicking, ,then choosing where to save, then re-assigning categories and folders etc.
Come on be honest now

, how many of you would tolerate all that crap if you wanted to transfer or backup your data from/to another pc?
