How frustrating. Cannot get my Orange P910i to upgrade using the SEUS. Both my P900's upgraded fine, so I am reasonably confident in the PC. Have ensured latest Java, no firewall, etc. Also tried it on a friend's laptop, totally different configuration, exact same symptoms.

Every time, the error message is: "Error in communication with the device", after it has powered the phone on and off and downloaded the update from the web, just before it starts to apply the update to the phone.

Can anyone help? Suggestions most welcome. Yes I have read the other threads!

Hi Howard,

My only suggestion unfortunately is to do what I did and flash the phone with generic firmware! As you've read the other threads you'll know there are so many variables, it's very difficult to establish where you're failing.

Alternatively, as one idea if you haven't already tried it - do a Master Reset before running the Update, there might be some residual nastiness from a downloaded app that is blocking the connection(??). Worth a go!

Is anyone else getting the message '' syncstation is being used by another application'' just before the update is supposed to begin i have spoken to both SE and Orange about this issue, they each gave me some advice but unfortunately none of it resolved the problem. Could it be that it is auto-synchronising when you put the phone on the SyncStation? I've got this feature disabled. Just a thought...

I have a feeling its to do with the firmware installed by Orange when they add the Orange cr*p branding to the phones, I recently had to change my p910i via insurance and i got an unbranded one back from orange, also my imei number on the apps that had a different number is back to my standard imei. I found it strange Orange gave me an unbranded one.

It's not impossible, but my P910i is Orange-branded, and I didn't have a single bit of trouble, so there's got to be something more to it. As someone suggested, it may be worth backing your phone up, then doing a master reset before attempting to do the update. That way, you eliminate the possibility that it is something on the phone causing the problems.

I'd be interested to see if a master reset prior to updating makes any difference. The reason I say this is because I did the update when I just received the phone from Orange, and so nothing was installed.
