@scots, yep, thats exactly right!

Going back to the exaple i showed i would like to draw you to Meths sig...

"meths: the one-man crusade against being arsey, elitist, and poncy towards new members!!!"

We all need to follow/join this crusade, croisade if you will , because it will make new members feel welcome to Esato, because when they join they 99.9% of the time want an answer to do with their phone and by being arsey, elitist, and poncy towards new members they will not get the info they need.

Find the older members much more helpful and polite when talking to new members. Learned alot from them. This message was posted from a K700i

Nice to know that

It would be great to hear what other newbies' opinions are, to do with the questions Scots has raised.

@Lynx69

It would be very interesting to find out how newbies see Esato and how easy they find it to integrate into the community here.

With regards to meths' 'crusade', I don't believe i will be signing up to it. I do agree that newbies shouldn't be flamed for asking, what more established members may consider, silly questions, but I don't think I need to be part of a 'crusade' to stop that.

i first found esato when i had my t300, i could not sign up because i have no pc so it was about 8-9months when i got my p8 before i could sign up. after such a long period i felt as if i belonged anyway.
i never had anyone being "funny" with me, but then again i dont think i asked any daft questions!
i remember one night after a bad night at work i checked a couple of threads i either started or contributed in and all of them had died. i started a garbage thread asking what is wrong with me, why do i kill every thread im in etc., the response i got was mind blowing! by the time that thread died i felt more at home here than in my house. and most of the replies came from vets like kim and vlamm.
on my t300 i never really took any notice of post counts but when i first signed up i seemed to "look up" to the >500 club, and wonder how long it would take me to get above 500, i aint been here that long but now i realise it dont take that long to get to 500, i dont give a damn about post counts!

one thing i just realised is i havent seen that damn "use the search" smilie for ages. have the vets attitude to newbies changed recently?

also i would like to hear from an "esato o.a.p." when does a newbie stop being a newbie?

I guess being a newbie is a matter of attitude and not post count. Some poeple are probably new to this forum but are definitely NOT a newbie as they have been around other forums probably longer than some of the veterans here. They know proper ethics and have the right attitude when they make posts. They know when and how to integrate into threads that they feel are relevant to them.

Some veterans however are totally opposite -- they still act like newbies IMO. They make posts without even knowing the flow of the thread which only makes them sound stupid if not annoying. Some would post obvious half-baked knowledge into discussions only to prove how pretentiously ignorant they are.

I admire very few people here who has never allowed post count to equal the sizes of their ego. They always try to be diplomatic in the way they make corrections or warnings.
