I recently heard (read) in a newspaper that SE is planning to manufacture phones here in India. Dunno whether its true but it would be gr8! Samsung is doing the same too. This message was posted from a T230

Ok I agree with the comments about quality rather than quantity but I'd like to see just a little more choice. Even if its just packaging one model in a different case, just for some variation in looks. Even people buying the higher end phones will be bothered by looks and if they dont like the SE model then we've lost a sale there to another brand.

You can package every fancy arse bit of tech into a handset but if it looks like a piece of crap noone wants it.

Of the 3 SE models with the functionality Id want (K7. S7. P9) I only like the looks of the S7 and thats ridiculously overpriced for what it is anyway.

S700 cost much less now, the price droped globally. here its 559euro, it was 750euro before (P910i is 699euro so the S700 was very expencive).

SE's market strategy one word. funny!
they try to hard, but the can't do miricals. how can you promote a K700? (the bat is weak, the design isn't that cool and loved and the tv commercial was just poor, and it looked even more poor because last year the T610 commercial was very good).

SE has diffirent market strategy for diffirent countries. japan and china are the ones that bennifit most from that.
the US the least.
Europe is between, cause SE knows that there phones sell quit well in Europe

It may have come down in price but its still too much, for that money I could buy a Sony Cyber-shot 2MP cam and a Sendo X and still be left with £50!

@ Bart

I wouldn't say the strategy was funny, your comments prove it does work!
a) You don't like the K700i commercial and it appears you don't own one, so the phone isnt targetted at you, therefore you can't relate the commercial. Theres also the point that every other person seems to own one so they must be doing something right
b)You liked the t610 advert - and it appears you own one, so therefore SE targetting paid off.

Going back to original post i don't think that there is that much money to be made in low end phones anymore, as more and more people own a mobile everyone becomes more sophisticated in using them and adapt to the new technologies within them easier. Sure there is always going to be a bottom end market - in terms of phone capability, but with 3g becoming more present the days of basic mobiles and Nokia being able to get away with churning out a model every week probably won't be as accepted by consumers imo.

@bart happy u continued where i stopped. Indeed, se is on one hand gives the best to be a succesful co but the weak points in fones are catch 22, on the other hand they increase selling but i dont see more se as before. This message was posted from a T68

@bart

Your point about the design of the K700 is something of a sweeping generalisation, to say the least. One only has to look through thread after thread of this very forum to find numerous people who like the design of the K700 very much indeed. In fact, the design seems to be one of the major factors in attarcting customers to buy the K700.

However, I do agree with you regarding the battery, it realy is quite pathetic.

@all

SE market themselves as being a very high-end manufacturer. Their products come with certain features as standard. Trying to produce a range of budget handsets, whilst keeping to this ethos would be very difficult. Hence why we only see the occasional budget model. It really is a question of quality over quantity.

If SE is focussed on the high end segment then what can i say! But people here love SE models but when they hear its price and then compare it with that of other brands, i'm sad to say, but buying SE doesn't make sense in a price conscious market like ours! This message was posted from a T230
