Sounds better & better all the time, can't wait till it comes here.
I hate the fact that it's gonna cost nearly twice as much here though, £200! Isn't it £107 in Japan

At current exchange rates yes but you need to go over to Japan and get one from a shop for that price.
As you know, in UK we are screwed with UK price usually a mirrior of US price. Their talking $220 in US so we can expect £199 as a minimum but saying that most people were forcasting £299 only 3 months ago and you get a lot of machine in portable form for say £199.
The graphics and speed really are on a par with say 3rd generation PS2 games and considering Ridge Racers is a launch title the quality of games can only get better!

I'm not saying it won't be worth £199, it's just annoying that it's only gonna be "worth" that here & nearly half as much to the rest of the world!

Well until the world see's sence and has a standard world currency (its already happening with language

) then they can play the currency game & screw us.
Saying that, its a great time to buy from US or Asia especially if you get away with VAT/Duty!

I picked up a PSP last week.. It certainly works with PRO DUOs. I can also confirm that it works with my 1G MSD PRO sticks. I bought the value pack along with Ridge Racer and Metal Gear Acid. I paid around 5300 Yen for it. I got it the first week of release so I know I would pay through the nose. Anywho, it was worth it. The value pack came with a 32mb MSD for game saves. It's sufficient for game saves, but how they expect consumers to use it for other media I don't know. Anywho, I posted some results and pics on a PS2 scene board last week regarding media playback and viability with swapping flash memory sticks. It seems that none of the users on the board were familiar with 3GPP or MP4 formats and had no clue on how to get their media to work on it. So I posted some results on viable solutions. Sony has been slow in releasing some software to allow media conversion to that format. At any rate, I have been able to play back media that I already had encoded for my Pxxx phones on the PSP. The quality isn't as great so I did have to tweak the settings and renecode for decent playback. There is no direct connection between the PSP and Pxxx series other then flash memory cards. I tried using the Xlink Kai service to allow interactive gaming, but I couldn't get it to work. All in all, the only benefits that I see that I have with my PSP and P910 is that I can swap media files via flash memory between the two devices. Great toy by the way. I do recommend that you guys pick one up in time for X-mas.

The Qb4 setting gave a great conversion of Nemo but over 300MB!! Not tried the lower options.

No I didn't m8. I simply used the same encoding software that I have been using for a while. It's not conventional consumer software, but it does the trick. I believe the software that they have released is primarily for consumers that don't know much about the 3GPP or MP4 format. Moreover, I think Sony is trying to release some software that is customized for the software to pretty much make it 'dummy' proof for the consumers. Kinda like how PV Author was released for the P800 and all the others thereafter. I guarantee you that you'll be able to use what ever it is that you're using for your Pxxx now. Lucky for me I already have (2) 1G MSD PROs so size is no issue for me. The nice thing about the PSP media player is that the vid media files sizes don't have to be inflated to some ridiculous number to allow smooth playback. I have been able to get at least 3 flicks on one 1G stick to playback very smoothly on the player.

I was a little disappointed that Sony did not include a web browser in the firmware. Kids just dont wanna play games, they wanna surf the net, read a few emails, etc. We must wait for a third party solution (that we must invariably pay for) to fully exploit the wifi connectivity.
