well think about it logically:

k500: 99 pounds

f500: 80 pounds

there is a difference, mainly because of the branding. vodafone are not gonna price it lower if they know it can easily be branded. so u have to pay for the debranding unless you find a t28 cable hanging in a tree.

its just tough luck.

i might just take it to a shop but is it really worth £20?what are all the benefits of debranding?

defenitely worth it

you get original firmware, the chance to easily install future firmware that wont come out on vodafone, no red everywhere, anything that has been moved about by voda i.e. menus and mp3's being used as ringtone disabled will go back to normal.

it is worth it in the long run, however, if you dont mind having vodafone rubbish all over the menu system then dont bother.

BUT it may be worth it for the firmware updates as some of them may not work on vodafone firmware. original firmware has been modified by vodafone (or buy for vodafone) and therefore original firmware updates may not work on the previous modified fiwmare for vodafone.

complicated eh!

well the menus are ok but they suck a little bit.can you change the startup screen? i also wanted to know if you can change the covers for it because i knoe the back comes off but ive never tried taking the front off. the cover it has now has vodaphone along the bottom which looks gay.when i brought the phone i asked the guy what was the difference between a f500 and a k500 and he said it was just the name and i never realized that the f500 was different to the k500 otherwise i would of got the k500.

EDIT: You can change the startup screen yes, is the one on the F500i got a big gay vodafone logo?

thats a bugger that he lied!

it has the same features yes (except mp3 ringtones dont work on f500i) but they are vodafone branded!

ok, if you check out ebay they should have some normal k500i covers to buy. However, installation may be tricky.

It is worth getting unlocked!
