Well incase I'm not too late...The best MP3 Editor/Mixer for all kinds of souns I have used till date is Total Recorder, made by High Criteria..ou can downlaod the Reg Key from warez sites which will allow you to use the full functions..Great Product though..!

db poweramp is a really good converter. If you've got the K700i etc it'll cinvert to mp4 which will take up less space, It'll convert everything into anything and vis versa. If you downlod the codecs. Its also free

I second the idea that DBPOWERAMP is the best MP3 ripper/converter/format changer..but DBPOWERAMP is not a MP3 editor..! Editor is such that allows you to add your effects such as tranisition/crossade/increase or decrease playback speed etc...!

lame mp3 encoder is just an encoder.

An editor should be able to edit, i.e. cut, add fades, add effects, change volume, change format, etc. dbpoweramp is just a converter.

go for @ThreeX's suggestions - SoundForge or Nero Wave Editor.
