some of the BIG advantages that i see in buying a pc over a mac are:

pc's command over 93% marketshare in the computer industry.
pc's are highly customisable.. i.e components right from the processor to DVD ROM drive can fitted according to my specifications and brand choices
pc's have less issues when it comes to compatibility/drivers for peripheral devices
macs of similar configuration are usually 2x more expensive than pc's. (this is a huge factor when it comes to price conscious markets like India)
more freeware/shareware/software available for pc's than macs.
plenty of freelancing service engineers available for pc's whereas problems with a mac need to be sorted out at a mac service centre.
upgradation is a whole lot easier cos i can upgrade one component at a time.

but i do agree that macs have a lot of features that can't even be dreamt of by pcs... but somehow it's not the one for me, atleast right now.

Being part of a monopoly is not necessarily an advantage - it stifles your choice of OS. Look at all the lawsuits Microsoft is fighting for monopolistic practices.

That's true, but also brings with it the multitude of potential compatibility problems when trying to get hardware and software from different manufacturers working peacefully together. Also, you have to be quite a techie to do that - the average joe won't have the knowledge or expertise to install their own hardware.

Completely untrue! 99% of things you can plug-in to a Mac just work without configuration - true Plug 'n' Play. With PCs you Plug 'n' Pray! PCs are well known for incompatible drivers, hardware conflicts etc.

If I had £1 for every time someone on this forum had trouble getting their bluetooth dongle working, I'd be very rich. Mac users just stick any dongle in & it works, no installation necessary! And its the same problem stories with virtually every other bit of hardware you can stick in a PC.

Not always true! Read this: http://www.linuxinsider.com/story/36120.html

True, but not necessarily an advantage. Why spend ages trying 3000 shite versions of a program to find a couple of goods ones? Mac free/shareware is generally of a higher quality than PCs. It's QUALITY vs. QUANTITY.

I can easily find Mac programs to do anything I want... Read this: http://linuxinsider.com/story/37806.html

Yes, Microsoft's inability to create a stable, bug-free, secure OS is keeping them all in jobs! You'll rarely find an IT Support person in a company that uses all Macs. They don't need it!

I've been using Macs for 16 years, from college to my current job. Not once have we ever had to call someone in to sort out a problem. Any problems have been fixable by us.

True, but Macs have a much longer usable life so upgrading a Mac is not so necessary so frequently.

If you're a PC games player then, yes, PCs can't be beat (if you can get the game running in the first place!) but I have a PS2 to play games on... But everything else I can do just as well, if not better on my trusty Mac, and the OS works with me rather than against me.

It's been proven that people who use Macs are more productive that PC users because they spend more time actually doing something constructive rather than fiddling and tinkering with their PCs to keep them running satisfactorily...
