YES overcharging is damaging the batteri!
But the phone and charger stops charging when it full to avoid overcharging!

But I dont know about the problem when charging the phone over night and having the phone switched off.. There is a difference with optimized charging and only charging... but what it is I dont know..

well it does.... but now days phones a equip with.. auto off charging. so when its full.. it stops... so its ok. and if u charge it over night.. and realise in the morning it is still charging, it is due to.. the auto off charging feature... meaning ur phone is on the whole night... so the batt life is still draining frm this.... so once it reach a certain limit.. the phone charges again... so when u wake up.. u'll see its charging...

conclusion... if u know u charged the last time.. u'll know the phone is charged.. point is.. batt life shud be ard 98% so its all gd!

When the phone is charged while it's ON, you can't overcharge it coz of optimized charging, but when it's OFF... I really don't know :-( This message was posted from a T68i

if u leave the fone in on mode on the charger all night long, when its full, it stops charging, but if it loose power, it starts to charge automatically, cos its on the charger yet. therefore is suggested at longer ( all night ) charging to charge the fone in off mode, to avoid such problems. actually the best way is to charge the fone in off mode, cos even bad reception could influence the charging a nd the later batt performance.

Let's turn this around a little bit.

This is for the K700i. What about if I only charge it to 50% or 70% (as long as it's not full) because I'm running late or something - will that damage the battery?

its not recommended, the best is to stop charging when the batt is full. not sure if 50% etc damage the batt, but a charging doesnt take so much time that u couldnt wait til its ended.

batts dont like those " quick " ways and actually its not for much use, the time is to short and the fone and batt " need time to get used " to each other.
