sorry mass,
anyway, mel gibson wasnt expecting for it to make it big in the box office and it did, so whats the chance it will clean sweep its nominations.

Sorry Mr. Moderator, now back on . . . The judges should really have included that movie (Passion). One thing I heard from the news is that they do not consider 'nominating' such, wheter it made big in the Box-Office, say like that of SpiderMan2, though an exception was said, like that of the movie - Titanic (Topgrosser) and won the The Best Picture award way back. The movie The Passion of the Christ made an astonishing US$650+ Million in ticket receipts worldwide

Think could be right about sadistic serial killers, thought the "passion" was somewhat over the top. Intereting, but over the top on the torture scenes!

@adt . .. -I haven't watched the movie - Hotel Rwanda, but I like the song . . . Hotel California

!
@bammers - Yup, too much blood, but Mel Gibson 'made' sure that what they made/acted on are the 'real' scenes/events in Jesus' life.

Suppose, just seemed to dwell and little too long on the "torture" scenes. Wasn't that impressed with "reservoir dogs" either come to think of it! Don't get me wrong I like a good shoot 'em up or action film or even horror, just dont like violence and torture for no reason or over the top!!

@Bammers
Totally agree with you.
I have nothing against realistic scenes in movies, but i think 'Passion' was nothing but a prolonged torture scene out of the very interesting story that was the life of JC..
I really liked Jesus Christ superstar in its time, but this was a disappointment. Besides, a ex-army medic friend of mine just shook his head and said "No way in **** would he survive that torture in real life, he would have gone into, and died of shock.

At last, someone who agrees with me!LOL! Excellent, maybe people were tougher in those days but what was portrayed was well over the top and totally unnecessary! Read any decent history book and nasty things were done to people in those days, but the film was an excellent chance to show what is at the end of the day a very interesting story and an example of excellent crowd control and applied psychology etc. A poor show by all accounts by a Mr Gibson!
