unfortunately businesses tend not to work like that. accessories are only claimed to be compatible for the device you bought them for and they are not future proof. no company can guarantee the future proofness of any product bought today

perhaps they, or a 3rd party, could come up with a usb to old-style-connector adaptor?

btw, have we seen a pic of any rumoured phone which a USB port? I certainly haven't so all this could be redundant chatter anyway

Well its good to see what other people think about certain topics anyway.

I mean, I was actually just thinking about how good the bottom ports are today.

Then this came up. IMO, without the port, the phones will loose their... I dunno, SE feel.

Yeah, now would be great. But I think in the changeover, they shouldn't just get rid of the port staight up.

If SE gets rid of the traditional SE Port on the bottom, then it will take away a big part of Ericsson.

I mean, its been around since the old Ericssons, and has changed in size, but its still been there.

Now the other big players are deicding to addapt a "One accesory (sp), fits all" concept.

That's the one aspect of /// & SE phone's I'll personally will be glad to see the back of. I wish Sony had insisted on a redesign when they merged.

I've owned a T28, T28w, T39, T610 & my current phone is a K700i which as a built-in connector cover. All these phones have refused to sync over serial until I swivel the connector on many occasions. The same goes for the charger. Yes, it's nice to be able to use most accessories from one model to the next but not if it's such a poor design (spring loaded point contact).

I've just played with a new V3 - liked its standard mini USB port - will make charging more flexible for starters.

Have you seen the premini II phone for Japan. Th k700i upgrade would be something like that (i think it would). You can see the usb port as well as the charger port on the right hand side of the phone.

If there's one connector they can switch to it is the mini-usb, because it would let you/them change from a (S)E-only to a general standard. That is always a good thing.

It had to happen once. (S)E has bee loyal to the connector for a long time. The number of people I have heard that had to buy a Nokia they didn't want to because it was the only one that fitted their car dock...

On the other hand I will now for sure not buy any expensive sync stations or cables that would become obsolete with the next phone. The headset included with the K700 will be obsolete anyway. What about the chargers, will the be different too?

Would they produce adapters?
