@Vlam The coverage should be a lot better before the end of the year. By which time there should be some nice NTT DoCoMo 3G handsets from SE and Fujitsu to complement the range as well, with iMode.

NTT DoCoMo brands and locks their sets though... you'd do wise to investigate a little how O2 will be selling those

I think their new 3g (same as GPRS) contracts are because they don't have much 3g coverage.
Give it a year or less and I bet you they will release a phone like samsung s2300, and maybe even the 5MPx S250

o2 are going to launch 3g tomorrow on postpay with 3 new phones. the nokia 66 somethin or other, a new samsung flip phone (which looks quite cool but feature wise not in the same league as sony ericsson or d500) and their own o2 x4 *cough* rubbish *cough*. the thing is that until the end of march, video calls will be taken out of the tarriff minutes. This is a promotional offer and o2 will be launching possibly new tarriffs after that date or maybe just makin it somethin like 60 or 65p per minute to do a video call. And even if you are not in a 3G compatible area, there will be seamless switch coverage onto the o2 standard network. Therefore out of all the networks i think o2 may be going about this the right way and slowly leading the revolution into 3G. Yeah the sony ericsson v800 will not be available on o2 3G for a couple of months yet i think. and o2 pay and go will follow the contract route into pay and go shortly.

Hmmm....it sounds to me like O2 are not taking this launch all that seriously, in case they bought by someone, maybe Hutchinson (merge with "3"?)
Why would you launch with sub-50% coverage when "3" have 80%+, Orange have 66%+ and Voda have over 50%? It doesn't make sense.
As for seamless handover between 3G and 2G, "3" advertised that at launch and it was garbage, as I suspect this claim will be too.
Time will tell...
