Thanks for the quick responses guys, but pretty much as I expected, I think personally it's kaput.
Not sure whether its worth SE looking at it, it would probably be cheaper to buy a new one.
As for whether it was my fault? Nope, I left it in my pocket while I had a shower, but my wife was in 'spring cleaning' mode.
Mind you, she has also managed to burn the carpet before after deciding that a blob of wax on it would come off with a red hot clothes iron...
Look's like it's divorce then!

Boba, the first time it fell into a bucket of water and completely submerged. I immediately took it out and left for drying. I also used a hair dryer! I switched it on 2 hours later and it started without any hitch! Next time, it fell into the wash basin while i was washing my hands. Since then the earphone have lost their optimum volume. But the phone still works.

Meanwhile, the hairdryer sounds like it might be worth a try, i've had it with the back off, battery out, led on paper towels for a couple of days, but no go.
Any suggestions as to why the red light on the joystick lights up when the charger is connected?
There is obviously some part of the circuitry working, but I thought the light meant the battery needed charging.
Could be indicating a problem with the connection maybe?
It does go off after an hour or so.
