My phone relocks everytime i update the FW using the SE support and people here in the forums and my friends says that once it's unlocked, it stays unlocked. Another strange thing is my organizer software wasn't updated at all. My the new version should be R3A02, according to SE website, but i still get R3A04 even if i insert the right sim.

Has anyone ecnoutered this same problem? I will never update my FW again after i unlock my phone after this experience.

Yes, this new locking feature is a little naughty really. SE should not touch the sim locks as it is the user who has the right to unlock. I may suggest that you take your phone to someone who is able read out the SP code. Then you may enter it in <**<

This will be the 2nd time that i will unlock my phone and even the store is baffled on why the lock was resetted back. So, does this mean that SE update service relocks all unlocked phones already?

I am not sure - its a shame i dont have a p-series phone anymore - i would have loved to have tested this.

I really do suggest you get the person who unlocks your phone to give you the sp code as then you should just be able to enter it in when/if you need it.

Thanks for the answers and the welcome.

Is it neccessary to update it? Can the phone still work without being updated? I want to get the sony ericsson k700i but I've heard with the new firmware I won't be able to make my own ringtones

@siony - About the firmware ugrade, there are a 101 answers to this very simple 'Q' mate Some truly were satisfied when they have upgraded their fones - say, K7 in this instance and some were left with a 'dead' set/unit after which. But for me, I am not taking the risk (though probability is very remote . . . ). If you are quite saitisfied by charging your fone almost on a daily basis, and sees that white thing flashing on the screen of your k7 from time to time . . . then might as well just leave it at that mate! I am talking of a 'stock' firmware here pal - R2AA . . . Good Luck!

@cheese whiz - I think the correct word is - 'upgrading' and not 'upgradation' mate . . .

Thanks for your help gbrooks. My last celfone was t68i so i'm very excited to have the p910. This relocking thing just annoys me though.

It seems that only i have this problem coz i tried searching the forums for this topic and i couldn't find one.

@JN

100% impossible to kill a phone with software (well maybe 1). Infact i challenge anyone to kill a new SEMC phone (k700, s700 etc etc) with software that could not be repaired by davinci, TMS, Setool or cruiser.

Only way to kill a phone is with hammer, brick, maybe also run over it with a Tank.

People, it is very safe.

@gbrooks3 - My apologies mate, but that is just what the Manager of the authorised Service Center here in my place told me. I just got my K7 last week (2nd round) and was planning to a firmware upgrade until the Manager told me that just recently they had a case (very 1st he said in their shop) that a K7 firmware upgrade resulted to a - DEAD SET So, I changed my plans of upgrading mine as it may be included in the RECENT list of casualties I am not technically an Einstein in this field, but I was just relying my posts/replies here from the facts I gathered from reliable sources, in this case, a certified Service Center. I remain!

I would love to hear about this DEAD SET a little more. Using EMMA II hardlock dongle i would have to say this is incredible. Although EMMA II is no where near as powerful as SEtool and Cruiser i find it difficult to know how it happened (i truely believe ou though). Its possible to screw a phone up with davinci so that EMMA II might have trouble flashing it.............interesting.

@gbrooks3 - It looks like that you are a celfone technician (by profession) pal With all the terms you've posted, I am now at a lost if we are still talkin' 'bout celfone terminologies or some famous personality ICONS here: Emma/Cruise/Da Vinci I have some doubts though if those technicians 'cannibalised' the fone (instead of the simple upgrading) to make it result to a DEAD set - just kidding of course. Will ask the Manager the main reason for it's - untimely demise (K7)!
