Siemens increases mobile phone advertising budget with Omnicom's TBWA - report
MUNICH (AFX) - Siemens AG (Xetra: 723610.DE - news) has increased its mobile phone advertising budget with Omnicom Group PLC's TBWA agency, the Financial Times Deutschland reported, citing industry sources.
The newspaper said that at the end of last year, it had appeared that Siemens would allow its current contracts with the firm to expire.
Unnamed marketing industry experts speculated that since Siemens is increasing its advertising expenses, then it now intends to keep its troubled mobile phone business.
In the past, Siemens has said it has four options for the business: 'restructure, sell, close down or cooperate.'
In the quarter to December, Siemens' handset business posted an operating loss of 143 mln eur on sales of 1.170 bln.
