Lotus Organizer

Lotus Notes

Lotus Notes is similar to Outlook, but has more limitations. It is mostly used as an e-mail program.
I have not done anything with Lotus Organizer.

I would prefer a dedicated program like the Palm devices have. This would minimize bugs and compatibility issues.

Hi,

Has anyone tryed Oxygen Phone Manager for Symbian? (http://www.opm-2.com/symbian/)

I have used the Nokia version and it worked fine with my old Nokia but now, with all the XP SP2 problems with bluetooth and IR, I never got it work with my P910. But it looks amazing and has all the options one would need to edit contacts, photos, sounds, etc...

Cheers.

If you are used to a Palm you are going to be sadly disappointed with the contacts and sync funcitions on the P900/910. The sync especially works very badly if at all - I have lost entries or got duplicate entries many times to the point I now do a back up both ends before attempting a sync.

Good luck

First off, get a decent computer.. Get a Mac.
Out of the box, iSync and iCal/Contacts.app work like a charm.

Hi everybody. I'm a newbie and was looking thro the postings here when I came across this topic.
Having just got a P910i and run into similar problems I thought I'd ask if anybody had anything further to add since this was all posted a few weeks ago? Any success?
I thought I would try to use Lotus Organizer as I had an old copy that came with my IBM Thinkpad. After a lot of playing about I read that the updated version of Organizer (6.1) could sync with a Palm. So I lashed out £35 for an upgrade to V6.1, loaded the easy sync add-on that comes with it and lo and behold got a pretty good sync with my Palm. So far so good.
But when I try to sync Organizer to the P910 it just doesn't work. The SE software won't even recognise an Organiser 6 file in the sync station settings. The drop down boxes just give Organizer 5, Notes and Outlook as choices. This is strange as the manual, the SE PC Suite disk etc all say it is ok with Organizer 6. I even tried upgrading to the latest release of PC Suite (3.1) from the SE website but it didn't make any difference.
I'm at a loss what to do next. I have a lot of contacts and an important history in my calender on the Palm and I can't afford to lose them. But the whole point of getting a P910 was to have just the one device!!
This is a real weakness of the SE system and they are never going to get these smartphones accepted as a serious business tool (convergence of PDAs and mobiles and all that) until they address this and get something working properly. Right now it doesn't do what it says on the tin and that won't do their reputation any good.

You say the phone wont recognise the file? Have you got a lastest software flash from your local SE store, that might sort out the problem with it recognising v5 but not v6.

Thats all i can think of im afraid

Its not the phone that won't recognise Organizer 6, its the PC Suite software on my laptop. When you go into the synch settings you get a dropdown box for each type of synch (contacts, calendar etc) and for each you seem to get the choice of Lotus Organizer 5, Lotus Notes or Outlook. There is no option for Organizer 6. I think this is pretty poor considering SE say in the manual and oter places that it will synch with Organizer 6.
In the meantime .... I seem to have had some success exporting the data I had got in Organizer 6 and importing it to Organizer 5 and then synching that to the phone. There seems to have been a few things in the calendar that version 5 couldn't cope with so they just disappeared but everything else seems to be fine. So, tortuous as it has been, I do seem to have found a way of getting 90% of the info that I had on my Palm onto my P910i.
I will give it a couple of weeks to see if it continues to handle synchs on a daily basis ok and then post my findings. It shouldn't have to be this complicated though.

In trying to solve my problems above I looked at a whole load of different sites and came across one software product called Agendus. They make what looks like a very good upgrade for the Palm where you get their desktop software as well as a matching suite on the Palm that handles Calendar, Contacts etc. They also have a Symbian product but it is standalone on the phone and doesn't link to their desktop software. Now if they brought out a link for that it would be a killer app in my opinion. Just what the P910 needs.
