I say you sue them still! But stay with esato. This is not part of their customer support channels, and the support you get here is part of goodwill from laffen and other esato members. This post was posted from a T39

Hi.

I'm currently using Windows XP and Infrared (and Bluetooth Syncronization).

As I am using Lotus Notes PIM I needed to purchase a full release of XTND Connect and I haven't had any difficulties syncing between my phone and Lotus Notes.

Thanks for all your advice so far.
I've now downloaded the files recommended.
My pc still doesn't want to recognise the phone when it is attached. In fact I've noticed that the graphics tablet attached to the other serial port stops working when I try to connect the phone as well!
So I guess I have to buy a new cable now in the hope that the old one is faulty.
Any suggestions of appropriate data cables for a T39M?
Again, thanks for your input - I've now had more help here than I have received in nearly a month of e-mails from Ericsson. Oh and yes I do intend to pursue my claim against them.

Manic,

i think your problem is not about the cable nor the phone. It seems to me that you have a port conflic.

If i were you, i will try troubleshoot by removing the tablet along with its driver, then connect the phone to that port and configure MPM to use that port. If this works, you'll know where is the problem and work it out from there.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks everybody for your help.
The problem wasn't the port settings float - simply the cable. I've now replaced the cable with a new one, downloaded all the bits and pieces you guys have advised me to and voila!
Things appear to be working properly now although I haven't had time to experiment with the phone extensively yet.
Just to make you laugh I just received another e-mail from Ericsson telling me it won't work!

Oh? So you're not going to sue Sony Ericsson?

Would have loved hearing about it in the news

Unfortunately it won't be possible now because I have managed to achieve what I set out to do. Albeit it with "your" help and not Ericsson's (whose tech support is appalling)
I'll send off a letter telling them what I think but lets be honest their attitude is hardly one of giving a damn is it?
Again, thanks to everybody who helped me out here.
