Gamestation had an advert in the paper today for the DS, you trade in your old SP and any 2 boxed games and you get the DS for 45 GBP, i though that was very good.

@Mohit007 what did you expect? they are gba games. ds can't magically improve the sound of existing or new gba games. if you bought a ds and want to test its abilities buy ds games not gba games. ds games have stereo sound coming from the
2 speakers that ds has. this is true stereo. i played extensively the metroid demo as well as the band brothers game (music game) and i can tell you IT ROCKS! music can't sound better.
nintendo is selling ds as a portable gaming platform with innovative features and games where you can't play anywhere else whereas sony sells the psp as a multimedia based platform to try to compete not only with nintendo but also with apple(as sony spokesmen said over and over again). for a "real" handheld war, wait until nintendo releases the GBEvolution.
both handhelds however have their goods and bads. ds has a great variety of different and unique games but lacks in performance. but from a technical point of view it offers so much more than just raw power. also nintendo will offer FREE wifi support which is a big plus. psp on the other hand is more of a gadget. it obviously has the uphand in power, but when it comes to handhelds it doesn't matter, because highly complex games can't be played and enjoyed at the same time on the move. also why buy it for playing games that are already available on ps2(more or less)? you can spend the same amount of money and buy a ps2 game and enjoy it much more in your tv and surround sound system. also psp can play movies, but again you have to pay for movies based on their proprietary format that you can't play anywhere else. in point of view, sony tries to promote psp as the next "cool thing". if you don't have it then you are not cool. i'll put my money on a ds because i'm fond of nintendo and because i want to play games like zelda, mario cart and metroid with unique gameplay and also because i'm a student and will keep me company at those long flights when i go back home in my country, without having to worry about battery life. i like psp from the fact that i like gadgets, but i know once i get it, i will get bored of it in the upcoming weeks and use it just to show it off to my friends. it's a matter really of what you like and don't like

Good points there
Kinda sums up why I also went for the DS instead of a PSP. I've already got a PS2 and can't see the point in paying out nearly £200 for a PSP. The DS is the cheaper option imo.

got a DS yesterday from Game, for only 29.99!
traded in the SP I had, and three games (unboxed) to get £50 off total price and used the £20 deposit for pre-order towards cost too
Then bought Mario DS

yeah u cant deny that the psp is better in every way but the nitendo is ok great graphics for a handheld although psp has better but no touch screen.
The Ds is quite good overall but some games such as Asphalt Urban Gt have crap graphics. Anyone know when ridge racer or need for speed are going to be released? Also the screen gets marked quite easily anyone know where to get screen protecters from?
Has anyone else got a red dot to the left on there upper screen which shows when the screen colours are black?Think it may be a dead pixel.
So overall people want know which is better well i think the Psp will beat the ds anyday but the ds is built more for children say 12 and under. Whille the psp is for people 14+.
So i say its gonna be a tight race to see who wins the battle of sales.

oh man you get it so wrong..ds is marketed at older audiences and not children. just look at the games coming to ds. metroid, zelda, mario kart, free internet play(don't forget the headset port on the bottom of the ds which will probably allow you to talk whilst playing a team deathmatch metroid with you friends..just imagine the possibilities!). also some unique games like nintendogs or electroplangton. it's much more than a kid's machine. also nintendo teamed up with palm to bring palm os to ds! ds is really going to expand gameplay experiences, whereas psp sticks to the same. oh man i can't wait to get mine..waiting for 25th march to order either white or black. now am being a headache to my friend who bought it!

DS is not as good as PSP but if they bring out a pda cartridge then it will beat the PSP. Some geek has already got Linux running on the DS with extra hardware
