hmm..probably.
And they charge $12 for just doing that? wow!
Even Microsoft used to charge a bit lower than that for a Windows 95 error eh!

An Update on my Problem
I managed to charge my battery through a friends k700i and updated the firmware via SEUS. Update was successful without any errors.
Intrestingly (Shockingly), the phone still has the same problem of displaying 'Alien battery'.
DAMN!!
I'll 'have to' take it to the service center now finally and let them screw it. Sheesh!
Wish I just knew what caused this problem and a possible way to solve this. NO ONE here has/had the same problem ever??
Any help greatly appreciated.

One more thing to include:
I tried three different chargers today to check the integrity of my charger. Shockingly (again), it displayed 'Charging Alien battery' in all three.

As I said earlier, I've another new battery now that doesnt solve the problem too.
I checked my old battery on a friends phone too, it works perfectly fine.

..and what would you do with it if I sell you? repair and use it? huh?
anyway, I bought it off a geezer 3 months back. It worked fine till now without any problems. Why would this happen unexpectedly?

Just to keep you updated:
I took it to the Sony Certified Service Center, they said that there's some liquid inside thats causing the problem. Took 2 days. They called up and said that it was fine and I can take it back.
Shockingly, the problem persists still, but they say that this is normal and theres nothing wrong with it. I asked them to replace the handset but they say they dont have any such exchange scheme running currently.
I'm in a fix. DAMN!!
Anyone, any suggestions? I really dont want to lose my $412 phone!
