I get the feeling you'll come back asking:
"How can i avoid winzip from opening the zip file, instead of downloading it?"

there's a script for this here:
http://www.stadtaus.com/en/php_scripts/download_center_lite
it bypasses the Right-click and forces the Save As window to open. but it's kind of complicated and probably not worth it!
there's got to be a simpler way to do this...

As a general rule .zip any file which isn't displayerd directly in the browser. Saves you room, and means that ALL browsers can download it.
(Note the problems I had with opera downloading .sis files onto the phones when I first set up my site.)

downloading and extracting the MP3 from a ZIP seems like more trouble than using the right click though
@EastCoastStar
if you can use ASP files with your host this could be
another solution. according to the post, it hides the MIME type of the file (mp3 in your case) and forces the Save As window. the only drawback (i think) is that each download would need its own hidden .asp page.
it looks like microsoft is working on a way to change this so eventually it won't be a problem (if you believe them)
EDIT: more interesting solutions if you google: "
force file download"

@numnums thanks for that!
im going to look at it, and see if my host supports it, and i will try it out, thanks again!
if not, then i can simply tell the users to right click and save target as... i didnt want to but oh welll... thanks again
