Most of the world text messaging competition champions use an SE.
It's a matter of getting used to it to know just how fast it truly is.

@govigov, i myself prefer to use # key. my previous phone was Nokia but i don't have any problem using the new key as space. also what i've wrote was because you didn't understand the mentioned trick not because you have trouble using # key.

No problems here with the # key as space, infact it comes naturally after a while. Same is with the 0 key, you just gotta get used to it. And yes as govi stated, using the joystick is gonna slow you down as you'll have to move out of the 12 button grid. I'm so used to fast texting now that my thumbs move automatically

There actually is a reason not to have space on zero key...
Since the predictive text input (T9) handles numbers including zeros it would be almost impossible to enter those ambiguously with space on the same key.
BTW, joystick down is a shortcut for "new line" on many SE phones...

maybe it could be customizable that would mean easier transition for people coming to se and is a bit of a selling point as well a minor one but one which may have some mileage

left handed or right handed it doesnt matter... aslong either one can reach n press the button 1 and 3 is proven tat it doesnt matter if the space is at the button 0 or #.... all u need is to get use to it...

99% of people who complain about the position of the space button are those who are new to

(mostly Nokia users). but after awhile they will find it usual.

My previous phone was an old Samsung and it used 1 for space - I actually find 1 easier, but then again, it's just a matter of getting used to.

@s4k1s
Try ur left hand for typing sms and also exploring all other features of ur phone and you'll find it's easier than using ur right hand (I'm no left-handed for other activities, only for mobile phones).
I face no difficulty writing message using my left hand for my P900 (space button is "1") or my K700, K508 and T610 where the space button is "#".
@Glenny
K700 space button is "#" but yes for all SE phones that have joystick, the joystick can also be used as space or for new paragraph.
