Itīs cheap. Around 125 USD for a T230 with a refill card. Why are you moving to Sweden by the way?

You can get a refill card for about 13-20 $ (100 - 150 skr)
And the minute price is from 0,014 $ to 0,5 $. It dependes on if your calling in your operators net, other operators net or to the regular phone network.
If your suppost to stay in the cities it doesn't matter what operator you take. They have all about the same coverage. But if you're suppost to stay at the country side i would sugest Telia. But it's not that big diffrence.
Check out this site:
http://www.mobil.se/tackningstest/karta.asp?sid=2
Click the area where youre suppost to stay. They are from top:
Nothern Norrland
Southern Norrland
Central Sweden
Eastern Sweden
Western Sweden
Gotland
Southern Sweden
Stockholm
Gothenburg
Mamlo
In the GSM test, 5 is best. And in the GPRS test (i dont know max value) higher is better =)

Interesting link...thanks.

All got 5 but for Vodafone in my area (it was 4.98). What is "Tappade samtal"? They were all 0 but for Vodafone, which had 1.03.
mckvakk -- what does that process entail? Just curious.
I'll be in Uppsala...moving because my partner is Swedish.

@Dan1113
Tappade samtal would be lost calls I guess. I think you'll like Uppsala, nice city and just 7 swedish miles from Stockholm. =)

Ah, I see. Thanks.
Yep, from what I can see, it's a lovely place...should be great.
mckvakk -- setool would be able to make my phone work in 900 band? That'd be great. Pretty expensive though -- $200... that's a lot if I only need one feature to use once.
