@m6xm6x

I agree, installed panda on a friends machine and it was a total nightmare, in fact I blame it for lot's of things that happened to the machine ending up with a repair from the installation cd( on XP)

I had NAV on the laptop until I saw that last year when the worms were out and about it was
taking them 8 weeks to update their database when McAfee were doing downloads nearly everyday to keep up.
The other alternative , of course, is a mac or linux.

Norton Internet Security 2005, Spybot S&D and Adaware is currently the best combination IMO.

AVG 7.0, whether free or pro is fine providing that you don't mind deleting files and registry entries in safe mode yourself. It's very good at finding stuff but not so good at getting rid of it.

Zone alarm works well, it's my favourite freebie at the moment.

Titanium Panda sucks a**s big time. It's badly programmed and not particularly good at what it's supposed to do.

Bullguard and BlackIce are certainly more stable, but still miss things a little to regularly for my liking.

Norton 2003 should be avoided like the plague. It eats system resources like there's no tommorow.

And, last and certainly least, Mcafee Internet Security. I really don't think that the English language contains any words suitable enough to describe just how bad this steaming pile of c**p really is. Put it this way, when I get a PC in the shop that has Mcafee on, the first thing I do is uninstall it. Manually. Because the uninstaller leaves most of this p**s poor application suite on the hard drive and in the registry.

It's a shame really, because the standalone firewall application is actually rather good. The Antivirus app is OK. But for some reason, when the two are integrated together along with the antispyware and god knows what else they put in there, it suddenly all goes pear-shaped.

I got my computer 2 days ago and am currently using zonealarm which is great and free.
I will be getting norton antivirus 2005 tommorow, i may also think about getting norton internet security 2005 and Norton personal firewall 2005.
is it worth me getting them.

Definately steer clear of any panda software as i can see it mucked up my computer and many other peoples.

i prefered avg over norton because its easy on resources (and not to mention about size of updates) but i find both are performing similar (may be avg has a advantage , may be its my feeling )

and best way to avoid half of problems is to avoid IE

@Ahdam

Norton Internet Security 2005 combines antivirus and firewall in one app. You don't need a seperate firewall if you buy that

so r u saying it has norton antivirus 2005 and norton personal firewall in one?
Because Norton internet sercuity 2005 costs around £45.
and norton antivirus 2005 £38, and Norton personal firewall 2005 costs £37.
So that dont make sense
