never owned a really bad fone as before i buy one i research into it and check its all good

For me, of past was Nokia 7110, it was always hanging on wap. Most recent awful phone was Siemens S65, it was worse than the 7110, though in fairness it was on firmware version 12 which was really bad!

just the general look of it and the menu really, i think it had more to do with the fact it had voda branding and mp3's wouldnt work properly etc etc
it wasnt really the phone as such, just vodaphone
