Do we incur the same risks by using Sony Ericsson’s online update service via USB? Is this something they rather not disclose?

It's unfortunate, but the only way to have the firmware changed is to find somone with such hardware / software. I'm yet to find a solution that is affordable and reliable

In other words, this really sucks...

The only real risk if this happens is the inconvenience of bringing/sending the damaged phone to SE and get a replacement under warranty. What else is there to disclose?
