It's unfortunate, but the only way to have the firmware changed is to find somone with such hardware / software. I'm yet to find a solution that is affordable and reliable

In other words, this really sucks...

The only real risk if this happens is the inconvenience of bringing/sending the damaged phone to SE and get a replacement under warranty. What else is there to disclose?
