Well, 'didn't mean to be rude. Sorry if I did.
But if one's expectations is not quite more than what we can see currently on the market, it's quite disappointing for 3G?
Technology apart which is very different from GSM, it should hopefully enrich the user's experience, and that's why the technology is here
3G should -in theory at least- allow you for Real-Time applications like video streaming, voice over IP like you could do today on your PC (though compared to GSM voice it's likely not too good
), interactive services like on-lime gaming, and so on.
2G and 2.5G is far from that.
Sure, color screen wise, P800 is close to 3G terminals, I'd expect, but what-you-can-do-with-it wise, it's far from that. Though first 3G terminals might be disappointing compared to the latest GSM phones, they will hopefully get better and better.

yeah reading super g's info along with that, it makes you think that current 2.5g phones are nowhere near 3g capability.
if the p800 had access to a 3g network it would be capable of running
all of the 3g functions listed?
all this is depressing me looking at my t68i right now so lo tech!

Isn't GPRS capable of approx 115Kbps? I mean, If they can't even perfect that, I don't really wanna jump on the UMTS, WCDMA bandwagon... that would mean a whole change in infrastructure and terminals... for what? Bandwidth that 95% of the mobile population doesn't need, use, or even ask for.
Do you REALLY want video phones ALL the time? Imagine your boss calling you and knowing EXACTLY where you are! That sucks. Mobiles are for OUR convenience, not the caller's.

Also, don't forget the nice bitrate numbers for UMTS are just theoretical
In hot spots, one might hopefully reach comfortable bitrate, but I would honestly not expect 2Mbits/s, but something more like a bit over 100kbits/s.
Vodafone said earlier they will provide about 60kbps, within UMTS coverage.

gprs is theoreticaly capable of 115 but in the uk at least only manages 50-56
