I would suggest to check if you have your java installed. If not, try downloading the Java Software from www.java.com.

When you check all the boxes, it doesnt matter if the phone is connected or not, but it it better to be turned on & connected. You can have it turned on normally.

many thanks for your help yesterday. I have now upgraded the firmware successfuly. For anybody else

Problems I solved were

a) holding 'c' key didn't bring up the new hardware found box in windows. This is caused by having failed on a previous attempt to install the usb flash driver resulting in windows now recognising the hardware but without a driver installed.

SOLUTION - open windows device manager, and then press 'c' and connect the phone. A 'USB flash' device will appear briefly with a big yellow '?' against it. Before it disappears double click the device and then update the driver following the standard sony instructions

b) I then tried to link to the update service and just got a blank screen

SOLUTION - no java installed so get it from www.java.com

RESULT - it all works ok, I just wish Sony had been as knowledgeable.

It always appears that customers know more than the customer service reps! I had similar problems and SE couldn't help me when I turned here and I received all kind of suggestions which have always helped me get stuff done easier and faster!

((in case anyone's as slow as i was, it's the 'c' on the phone, not the 'c' on the pc keyboard.))

Unbelievable!! I'm not stupid with computer but it really wouldn't work! I always get this nice message "no usb cable found".
I restore my computer twice to the date before I installed all the stuff for the phone and I install everything from the beginning:
First: plug the phone to the pc, installation assistant appear, I pointed to the file where the downloaded driver were, all was installed fine
Second: plug the phone with the "c" trick, again the installation assistant prompt, I pointed to the file, everything ok.
Third: PCSuite installation, fine.
Fourth: update Java environment plugin
Fifth:go to se update page, click all the box, and didn't find anything. Even at the beginning the web browser wouldn't propose me to download the software from se, so I install it myself, perhaps the problem comes from this point???? When it wasn't installed, my web page stayed blanck, and now I've installed the seus_setup118.exe, it is impossible to find the usb cable!!

Anyone got an idea??? Would be very nice...

ya - i too am stuck on r1a044_eu_1(_cl), currently in france on sfr -- from talking with se representatives, the update apparently depends on both the operator and the hardware version of the phone (and supposedly that different markets have differing hardware)

oddly enough, if i try to update through the swiss section - i get the 'no usb cable' bullshit as well. usually i try through the UK site since, for whatever reason, they decided not to feature the software update link on the french version..

Hi Guys,

I have 2 K750's, both arrived from Dubai and both had the software issue with freezing etc. Now, even though I had access to EMMA II and III, I tried to update the software on the phone via the SE support site - which I did once I got some info from you guys - THANKS.

Here is the problem:

The second K750 is not starting up properly, ie once switched on it usually stops on the "white blank screen" or the "sonyericsson logo", hence when I try to plug the USB cable (I am using the same USB cable - sic!) I receive a message from the "found new hardware" as "ERROR"??? with an attempt to load drivers. I tried with the USB software drivers - did not work. Even when after numerous attempts I get to the "Stand-by" state same error appears for the Driver signature!.

I am using 1 PC for this, first K750 updated the software properly the second can not. I even tried the "recovery" in the support site but could not do this as the second K750 is not recognised - recovery choice indicates that I can do this on the "first" K750 used for the software update.

Hence, I can not load the new software on the second K750. Any suggestions?

M.
