think the silver version does look ok when photographed - but in the flesh it definately looks a bit cheap and 'plasticky' compared to the black.

A silver K750i isn't the problem. It's the customisation of the menus by Vodafone that's the problem.

i thought it was plastic too but its a thin layer of metal ontop of plastic!

plus, as i remember the silver keypad has a blue backlight while the black is white.

Where did you get hold of that silver case? I cant seem to find it anywhere on ebay.
