How about the quality on the R1L002 release which is newer and supposedly more reliable than the R1J version? What's the performance?

@augustborn

are you sure about your headings? because i think R1A should have the bigger file size than R1J?

R1J looks nicer if the titles are right.

yea..they are correct..just checked the EXIF data with ACDSee...also anyone using Opera can check it..right click on image --> image properties

using opera...this is from the 2nd pic for R1J002..

Image input equipment: Sony Ericsson
Image input equipment model: K750i
File change date and time: 2005:07:03 16:14:04
Software: R1J002 prgCXC125955_HONG_KONG_ 0.0

edit: augustborn, just noticed that you stated both are taken using default settings, meaning both pics are taken using Normal picture quality? how about taking both with Fine Quality? i think that would be a better comparison, considering most would take pics with Fine Quality

bummer.. c0rn7 beat me to it by a few seconds!

anyways.. quick question regarding the new firmware..
is the cam software faster than on r1a?
i find it a lil on the slow side when takin quick shots (takes a good second to focus n then another second to save.. not to mention its about a half second delay AFTER pressing the shutter button to save).

nope, folks. THE TEST IS FLAWED (thanks to corn7 pointing it out to me)

my phone(R1J) is set to FINE. I did not check my friends' R1A, chances are it's on "normal".

*sorry, but folks look at it this way: if R1J takes crappier pics than R1A, then i am perfectly happy with my crappy R1J photos , and i am happy for R1a users.

**bottom line is, there will probably be minimal discernible difference on both FW photo quality. not like the video quality**

They look quite the opposite on my K750
My R1A pictures looks like the R1J pictures you post and my R1J pictures looks like the R1A pictures you post that are generally more exposed. I need to turn down exposurecompensation 2 notches on every pictures I take to get the same.

Looking at the pictures, the only difference I could see is that one is a bit washed out than the other.

This, as one poster commented, may be adjusted through exposure compensation. Maybe the developers changed some settings in the latest firmware.

My K750i present firmware is R1L... I haven't had any problems with it, and am quite happy that I updated my phone's firmware from R1A...

I have definatly noticed a reduction in picture quality look at these pictures; i know they are of slightly different scenes so it is not totaly fair but i would expect with the "same" camera they would come out near enough as sharp as each other. This though is not the case.
[the size on both had to be reduced so i dont know if it will be as clear to see]

Picture taken with Firmware i got the phone with R1A...
