hey all,
yep, well guess what?
i cancelled the order. they were practicaly begging t switch my sale for another. so i said fine.

so instead of the 30 inch toshiba (sony has nice design but bad quality. just get rid of the fanboyism and you'll see) i got a Samsung.

Now here is the funny thing.

I went into curry's (who cleverly set up all the LCD's to have a noisy picture to hide the quality difference) and said right! set them all up on the floor, and hook up a dvd player so I can see the difference (just the30 and 32 inch of course)

well they did it, and guess what came on top? The Samsung! It's a gen 6 so they've had some serious time to do good.
It supports HDTV out the box (caution, HD Ready means you have to buy an add-on) has LOADS of ports, light sensor, and a lovely slot for inserting pics or a PC card.

they threw in a glass table AND Samsung's latest DVD recorder (supports RAM RW AND -R) AND I got 50 pounds back.

Is that a deal or what?!

oh here it is btw.

Sounding a bit thick here, but can you tell me what HDTV is, and what magor benefit it has.
All the same it sound like you got a cracking deal. I am looking to get a TV for the living room, and have spotted this TV in comet, and like it because it is ultra thin design.

You know it's really funny, I recently bought the exact same TV online (the Samsung one that is!) and it's going to arrive in the next couple of days, if you want a good, but long forum to read about the ins and outs of the TV it's here: Samsung LE32R41B

The model that is being discussed here is exactly the same as yours, with a tiny bit of aesthetic difference and without the freeview tuner. Luckily EmpireDirect messed up their description, so now I get the freeview model for £796 incl. delivery!

Just read up on the HDTV, so no need to answer any questions on this. You say that this TV is fine for HDTV out of the box, but upon checking the link you posted it says that the item id HDTV ready, which you states, needs some aditional box??????????

i just meant that you need to be clear about the tv.

The toshiba says HD Ready but needs an addon which costs 500 pounds to watch HD.

The samsung however needs nothing or if it does it'll cost 100 or less.

@maddav, can you give me details on where you got it and maybe a link?
I can get paid back the difference!

769! WOooo!!

what's the difference between yours and mine specifically?
Is 1200 a good price?
I mean yours is around 400 pounds cheaper.....

ok. I was in dixons or currys on monday, and was browsing some of the latest LCD and Plasma screens, When I set my eyes on this moster Tv. It was playing the incredibles, and the picture was awesome. Not sure which Tv it was, but I'm sure it was a HDTv model.

Ok, first, a HDTV must support 480p @ 50/60hz, aswell as 720p @ 50/60hz and 1080i @ 50/60hz, it must have either a component, DVI, or HDMI input.

@Amnesia: it's a slightly different model number so it may prove difficult getting the difference refunded, here's the link it's £945 now, as I explained earlier there was a mix up which meant that Empire offered my and several others the freeview version at a discounted price.

btw, 480, 720 and 1080 are just resolutions, 'i' means interlaced, 'p' means progressive.
