I forgot to add something:
Question:How is the situation handed if two devices launch an inquiry simultaneously?
Ans: When two devices start an inquiry simultaneously, then they cannot discover each other in that inquiry sequence. (They do not cause collissions for other devices as the inquiry hop sequence is different for the two devices. ) To prevent the devices never being able to discover each other, the specification requires that the interval between two inquiries be random. This ensures that the two devices which collided once will not collide again in the next inquiry.
so there is no interference but you can make them wall work together if you want so.
(A so called pictonet where one device talks/listens to two devices)

unfortunately, you can't do this by yourself. you need to bring it to ericsson or their service points.
i think you need other equipment other than a cable to do it. (plus the firmware update and other softwares)

and are you saying that the software is essentially divided into two parts? one for signaling SW (ie. CXC 125 270 = T39m/SIGNAL SW/ASIAN LATIN1(EN=T9)) and another CXC 125 147 = R520/TAE SW.
what does TAE SW mean?

TAE stands for Terminal Adapter Equipment.

I've heard that the new t68 mms software also gives much faster sms writing...does anyone know if a upgrade with the same features (whitout the mms) for t39 will come around sometime?

I have a T39m. Anyone know what R3B fixes? Ericsson USA had my phone for 8 days and I just got it back today with R3A 022. R3A seems to be the shortest lived firmware. My previous version was R2K. I noticed the reception got better from R2K on my T39m and R2A on my T68m seems to have improved from R1B. In the USA we use the 1900Mhz GSM probably equal to the 1800Mhz GSM in Europe.

1900 mhz (american GSM flavor) doesn't really have an "equivalent", the rest of the world simply uses a different band: 900mhz and 1800mhz

Read from another forum that someone got his T39 firmware upgraded to R3B006.

Yes, I've upgraded yesterday from R2G to R3B006 in a shop in Norway.
